Developing software with AI: our evening of 27 August 2026
On 27 August 2026 we invited guests to an evening on software development with AI. Some 30 friends of bmpi came, all interested in the subject.
For us the subject is daily work: we now develop our software only with AI, following our own process, the Smithy. All the more reason to hear how others go about it.
The programme
| 17:15 | Arrival and welcome |
| 17:30 | “Your repo is clean. Everything else is leaking” Flurin Gishamer, Senior AI Engineer, Open Systems |
| 18:00 | “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” Andreas Schmidt, Senior Software Engineer, MediData |
| 18:30 | Drinks and conversation, open end |
Two talks, one question
The first title looks beyond your own repository: code that is checked in cleanly is only part of what an organisation has to protect once AI tools are involved.
The second title comes from Juvenal: who watches the watchmen? When AI agents write code and other agents review it, the question of who checks in the end, and how, arises anew.
Both questions concern us in the Smithy too: that is why a person reads the ticket and the plan before anything is built, and why a person decides when the automated review is still not clean after three rounds.
Thank you
Thank you to Flurin Gishamer and Andreas Schmidt for their talks, and to everyone who joined the discussion over drinks. We look forward to the next round.
If you would like to join next time, write to us at info@bmpi.ch.
